Hi There!

I am having 11ft solid dish whose f/d is .45 when i turn my dish to eurobird 9e some strong tp responds and few channels get locked but image is jerky. Now i decide either to reset dish with different f/d ratio or to try same on 6ft offset fibre dish. What would u suggest. What f/d parameter should i use to make new parabola. I also have Fuji SSI T20 lnb but it is not working at eurobird 9e.

Help me out. I am hobbyist so no problem of trying anything like making feed horn or making new Solid dish with offset parabola(if i get template to make offset parabola).

Hardware I have till now:
11 Ft Solid Motorised Dish (Arc working perfect from 115E to 38E)
Dual Band Dual Polarity LNB (currently working)
Dish Tv Ku lnb (for eurobird)
Fuji SSI T20 Lnb (spare)
4 ft pfa (spare)
Humax HDCI2000 (working)
old dish tv zenega reciever (FTA)
One Desi reciever (My first reciever, i bought to discover my hobby)

1st of all the dish is not suitable for KU band
2nd the offset angle is not correct
3rd how many Rods are there in your dish( accordingh to my guess your dish has very less RODS thats make your dish suitable for C band not for KU band as the surface is not smooth)

I am getting Eurobird in south india with 45-50% signal of both vertical and Horizontal beams, the dish which we use has same offset angle of a ATM dish.

if possible upload the pictures of your dish so that we can analyse your problem and provide a solution

Hi Bikaner,

see my guess was correct your dish has C band Sheet, its not ment for receiving KU band at all, you can get only indian DTH from your current dish(Means the signal which is more than 40-45 EIRP)

My experience in Ku band Fringe reception says

1) you need 35-40 Ribs(Rods) Dish antenna(Why I am mentioning 63-48 Ribs because the once you increase the Ribs the Sheet shape will be clean.
2) Your current dish shape is not good, its only ment for C band not for KU band.

If you increase the Ribs and sheets you get a perfect parabola which has clean surface(No UPs & Downs),there is a Delhi based company making branded dishes in INDIA even there 12- 16 feet dish does whcih has 48 Ribs is not giving that much signal in KU band because of 2 things

1 st the F/D ratio of there dish is perfect for C band not for KU & Depth of dish is too much, for ku we need less depth hence the LNB is far from the dish.

In case of C band dishes the lnb is too close to the dish in KU its reverse.

I recommend you either take 6 feet offset or change the FD and Ribs & sheets of your dish, and if you use HEAVY DUTY IRON Ribs which we call Double RIBS your dish will not go anywhere no problem in cyclone also.

The simple Forumula what I am telling is you just follow to make a good dish

suppose the dish size is 10 feet (304 CM) your LNB distance should be 190 CM

Dear Banglore,

Thanks for advice. I will change the ribs bend according to your suggestion (i.e. .60 f/d) That means
Diameter 132inch
Depth 13.75inch
Focal Length 79.20
f/d Ratio .65

I will definitely replace aluminum ribs with iron ribs. And Double support at least 4 ribs or if possible alternate ribs. But to change sheet it is little difficult because i cant use solid sheet. Now to change no of ribs from 16 to min 24, base has to be changed i will see if possible i will try to change it.
But you might have seen my friends dish 10ft he is currently receiving eurobird with good signal quality using 16ribs and same sheet as i have. What would you like to say about it. whose dia is 124inch and depth is 14 inch.

thanks

The major difference between your dish and your friend is

SHEET Quality what I can say (ur sheet seems SQUARE ONE which used to come in early days for C band)

Where as your friend has preferred mesh which is made from solid sheet only with holes on it, I am 1000% sure if your friend also replace that sheet with solid one he also gets 100% channels and his signal increases.

Where as Ribs are very very imp you have to increase it ASAP to increase the signal.

Thanks

Hi There,

I have tried market but i didnt get good quality of solid sheet with min holes, what i am getting is solid sheet which i cant use because it will increase wind pressure. Do you know any address in delhi where i can get these sheets. Or anything i can do to solid sheet to decrease wind pressure.

I have enquired from one of my friend he is dish anteenna manufacturer, he says in delhi there is some market with name CHAWRI BAZAAR there you get everytype of dish from size to length and very cheap rate for your 12 feet you should get good heavy duty solid sheet for 1500 Rs to 2000 Rs.

If you still find difficult to get that let me know I will try to give you some other solution.

I am trying to get new sheets for my dish so can you please give any specification for that sheet like thicness or holes size/distance or any thing which can help me to get good sheet. One more question i have to ask is i have three lnb's dual band dual polarity, Dish TV Ku lnb, FUJI SSI T20 lnb which lnb will be good for eurobird. And is there any good use of Fuji because i have paid a good amount for the same a time ago.
I have Humax HDCI 2000 set top box can i experiment more things on it using some cable or CI modules as i dont have dreambox, so currently i can only watch FTA channels on my hummy.
