News Berlusconi: Barca success down to luck

AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi has declared that half of Barcelona's success was due to class, skills and tactic, while the rest was down to luck.

The scandal-embroiled Italy prime minister believes that the current La Liga and Champions League holders would not have as much success recently if not for their fair share luck.

Ever since current manager Pep Guardiola was handed the reins of Barcelona in 2008, the Catalan club has won 11 trophies, including the past three editions La Liga and Spanish Supercopas as well as two UEFA Champions League.

Berlusconi was quoted in La Gazzetta dello Sport as saying: "Barcelona? They are the best team in Europe for me. However, only 50 per cent of their success is down to class, skill and tactics. The other half is a result of the luck they've had,"

He also spoke about AC Milan's attacking options, which ironically includes former Barcelona striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

He added; "Our attack? In my opinion we should play with Ibra and (Alexandre) Pato, with (Antonio) Cassano playing behind those two."

The current Serie A champions kick of the campaign to defend their title away to Cagliari on Saturday.
